[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 18일 원주시는 영국표준협회(BSI)로부터 스마트시티 국제표준(ISO 37106) 인증 도시로 선정돼 인증서를 받았다고 밝혔다.

스마트시티 국제표준은 국제표준화기구(ISO)가 주관하고 영국표준협회(BSI)가 심사하는 것으로, 지속 가능한 도시와 커뮤니티 모델을 기반해 도시 전체의 스마트시티 성숙도를 종합적으로 평가하는 기준이라고 했다.

스마트시티 추진 단계를 5단계로 구분해 3단계(성숙) 이상 획득 시 국제표준 인증서를 수여한다고 전했다.

원주시는 CCTV 통합관제와 지능형 교통체계 구축사업 등 지능형 기술 기반을 통한 다양한 스마트시티 서비스와 개인정보 관리, 스마트 도시재생활성화사업 추진 등에서 높은 점수를 받아 레벨 3의 성숙 도시 인증을 획득했다고 했다.

이번 국제표준 인증으로 대외적인 우수성을 인정받은 원주시는 스마트시티 모델을 지속해서 구축하고, 국제표준 평가와 재인증을 추진하는 등 세계적 수준의 경쟁력을 더욱 향상해나갈 계획이라고 했다.

수여식에 참석한 조종용 원주부시장은 “원주시가 세계적인 수준의 스마트시티 체계를 갖출 수 있도록 총력을 기울이겠다.”라고 말했다.
