[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 경기도의회 교육기획위원회 위원장 정윤경 의원은 군포보훈회관에서 군포지역 6.25참전용사들과 함께 2021학년도 군포의왕 평화통일교육 관련 정담회를 가졌다고 밝혔다. 

정담회는 정윤경 위원장을 비롯하여 이은광 군포의왕교육장, 정태화 대한민국 6.25참전유공자회 군포시지회장 등 6.25참전용사 21명이 참석하여 평화통일 교육과 교육활동 지원 방향 등에 대한 심도있는 논의를 진행했다고 했다. 

정윤경 위원장은 “지금 우리가 누리는 평화는 6.25 참전용사들의 희생이 있었기 때문에 가능한 것”이라며, 참전용사들에 대한 감사와 예우의 인사로 정담회를 시작했다고 전했다. 

정태화 6.25참전용사 군포시지회 대표는 정담회 자리를 마련해준 정윤경 위원장과 군포의왕교육지원청 관계자들에게 감사의 인사를 건네며, 전쟁이 주는 교훈을 잊지 않도록 학교현장에서 6.25참전용사들의 살아있는 경험이 전해질 수 있도록 노력해 달라고 요청했다고 했다.

김인환 6.25참전용사 군포시지회 부회장은 ‘역사를 모르는 민족은 미래가 없다’는 말을 인용해 학생들이 한국전쟁의 참상과 분단의 현실을 제대로 인식하지 못하는 것에 대한 아쉬움을 나타내며 향후 역사인식이 바로 설 수 있도록 교육청에서도 많은 노력을 기울여 줄 것을 요청했다고 했다.

정 위원장은 한국전쟁의 이해와 올바른 시민교육을 위해 군포의왕교육청 관계자들에게 현재의 교육과정과 조화롭게 운영이 될 수 있도록 6.25참전용사회와 사전협의를 충분히 진행하여 한국전쟁에 대해 학생들의 궁금한 부분이 섬세하게 전달될 수 있는 노력을 당부했다고 전했다. 

이에 대해 이은광 군포의왕교육장은 군포지역 6.25참전용사들에 대한 프로필과 지역의 역사 소개, 통일교육에 대한 표어와 포스터 공모 등을 통해 다양한 교육협력을 전개해 나가겠다고 답했다. 

정 위원장은 참전용사들이 고령인 점 등을 언급하며, 학교교육 참여와 관련하여 “호국보훈의 달이 아니더라도 이번 정담회에서 공유된 의견을 토대로 군포의왕교육지원청이 한국전쟁 관련 교육 시 언제든 6.25참전용사들의 생생한 경험이 교육현장 곳곳에서 교훈으로 살아날 수 있도록 협조가 가능한 모범사례를 만들어야 한다”고 교육청 관계자들에게 당부하며 이 날 회의를 마쳤다고 전했다.
