[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 11월 16일 경기도의회 교육기획위원회 정윤경 위원장은 재단법인 경기도교육연구원 주차장에서 개최된 길고양이 급식소 개소식에 참석했다고 밝혔다. 

이 날 급식소 설치는 공공기관에는 처음으로 설치된 것으로 경기도교육연구원에 2개소, 수원농생명과학고 관리부지에 2개소로 총 4개소이며, 수원시청과 주식회사 포스코ENC에서 각각 2개씩을 제작하여 공공의 책임과 기업의 공익 추구 차원에서 진행됐다고 했다. 

개소식에는 정윤경 교육기획위원장을 비롯하여 좋은 냥이 좋은 사람들, 포스코ENC, 수원시캣맘캣대디협의회, 한겨례 신문 관계자들이 함께 했다고 전했다.

정윤경 위원장은 “오늘 개소식은 지난  2021년 1월 20일 경기도교육복지종합센터 야외 주자창에 살던 7살 고양이 ‘비쥬’가 턱뼈가 부러지고 두 발도 꺾인 채 사체로 발견되고, 좋은냥이좋은사람들이란 시민단체에서 이 사건을 교육기획위원장인 저에게 민원을 넣은 결과 관련 조례가 제정되고 오늘 고양이 급식소가 4개소나 설치되어 참으로 다행스럽다”고 소회를 밝혔다.

특히, 정 의원은 ‘비쥬’ 사건 이후 의회 차원에서 시민단체들이 참석하는 공청회를 거쳐 「경기도교육청 동물학대 예방교육 및 지원 조례」를 제정하여 공교육 차원에서 학생들이 어려서부터 생명존중 교육 차원에서 동물학대의 정확한 의미와 행위를 알고 이를 방지하기 위한 교육이 학교현장에서 이루어질 수 있도록 선제적으로 조치한 바 있다고 했다.

개소식에 참석한 좋은냥이좋은사람들 관계자는 “비쥬 사건 이후 관련 조례도 제정되고 오늘 공공기관 처음으로 급식소도 설치되는 등 그 희생이 헛되지 않은 것 같아 조금 위안이 된다”면서 “향후 공공기관에도 급식소가 더 확대 설치될 수 있으면 동물 보호에 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다”고 밝혔다. 덧붙여, 도의회 차원에서 동물학대 예방 조례를 제정하고 급식소 설치에도 관심을 기울여 준 정윤경 위원장에게 감사의 뜻을 표했다. 

정윤경 위원장은 “오늘 개소식을 통해 인근 지역 고양이들에 대한 보호 조치가 이루어지고 이 지역에서 지난 5년간 이어지던 동물학대 사건이 종결될 수 있기를 희망한다”고 말하며, “동물학대 예방교육 조례 대표발의 의원으로서 앞으로도 더욱 동물학대 예방 교육 및 활동이 잘 진행될 수 있도록 노력을 아끼지 않겠다”고 밝혔다.
