[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 10월 28일 의정부시 흥선동은 국제로타리3690지구 의정부중앙로타리클럽 회원들이 의정부시 100일 사랑릴레이 배턴 잇기 동참의 뜻으로 1인 청장년 독거 중증질환자의 주거환경 개선을 위해 냉장고를 후원했다고 밝혔다.

의정부중앙로타리클럽은 흥선동 복지지원과와 민‧관 협업을 통해 당초 주거환경 개선을 위해 대상자 가정을 방문했지만, 같이 동행한 집수리 전문가의 소견에 따라 주거지가 붕괴 위험이 있다고 판단되어 안전한 주거지로 이사할 수 있도록 돕고 냉장고를 후원했다고 했다.

손영호 회장은 “대상자가 안전한 환경에서 생활할 수 있어 뿌듯하고, 앞으로도 지역에 도움이 필요한 분들을 위해 지속적인 손길을 전하겠다”고 말했다. 

의정부중앙로타리클럽은 이외에도 소외계층을 위한 사랑의 쌀 나눔 봉사, 홀몸어르신 나눔연탄 배달 등 지역사회의 어려운 이웃을 위해 꾸준한 사랑 나눔을 실천하고 있다고 전했다.

유준영 복지지원과장은 “코로나19 장기화라는 어려운 상황에서 도움을 주셔서 감사드리고, 민‧관 협력을 통해 복지사각지대 해소에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
