[김현우 기자 = 경기북부] 7월 2일 양주시 시장 이성호는 경기양주 테크노밸리 도시첨단산업단지 조성을 위한 양주시 마전동 일원 217,662㎡의 개발제한구역을 해제 고시했다고 밝혔다. 

이번 개발제한구역 해제로 도시첨단산업단지 조성사업을 본격적으로 추진하기 위한 탄탄한 발판이 마련되었다고 전했다.

양주시는 경기북부 산업 경쟁력 강화를 위한 거점 단지로서 자리매김할 경기양주 테크노밸리의 조속한 조성을 위해 2020년 9월 개발제한구역 해제를 경기도에 신청한 후 국토교통부의 중앙도시계획위원회 심의 및 보고 절차와 경기도의 해제 결정까지 약 10개월이라는 단기간에 해제를 완료하는 성과를 거뒀다고 했다. 

경기양주 테크노밸리는 경기북부의 4차 산업의 중심지로서의 역할과 첨단제조기반 플랫폼 등 신성장 인프라 구축을 위해 경기도, 양주시, 경기주택도시공사가 추진하는 도시첨단산업단지이라고 했다. 

지금까지 36개 기업·연구소·대학 등과 MOU를 체결하고 110여개 기업이 입주의향서를 제출하는 등 관련 업계, 시민들로부터 뜨거운 관심을 받아오고 있다고 했다. 

특히, 풍부한 기업 입주 수요를 비롯해 양주역세권 도시개발사업과 연계한 직주근접의 정주환경 등 시너지 효과를 통해 양주시, 나아가 경기북부의 지역 경제에 활력을 불어넣을 것으로 전망된다고 했다.

양주시는 이번 개발제한구역이 해제됨에 따라 금년 하반기 산업단지계획 승인 완료 후 보상계획 수립 등 본격적인 착공 절차를 밟을 계획이라고 전했다.

이성호 시장은 “사업의 타당성과 시급성을 적극 피력하는 노력의 결과 단기간에 개발제한구역을 해제하는 성과를 거둬들이며 경기양주 테크노밸리 조기착공 발판을 마련하게 됐다”며 “빠른 시일 내 착공할 수 있도록 도시첨단산업단지계획 승인도 조속히 마무리하고 경기북부의 경쟁력 강화와 균형발전, 양질의 일자리 창출 등 신 성장 거점으로 나아가기 위해 쉼 없이 뛰겠다”고 말했다.
