[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 북부지방산림청은 최근 강원도 인제･양구･화천을 중심으로 발생한 소나무 집단고사 현상의 피해 원인을 진단하고 산림관리방안 마련을 위해 지난 21일 현장토론회를 개최했다고 밝혔다.

이번 현장토론회는 국립산림과학원과 강원도, 인제군, 한국임업진흥원 등 관련분야 전문가와 함께 인제군 북면 한계리 일대 피해지 현장에서 진행했고, 피해임지･피해목의 생리･병리적 형태와 기후변화 등 종합적 진단과 대응 방안을 논의했다.

회의결과, 이 지역들의 지난 겨울 강수량은 평년대비 27% 수준이였고, 평균기온은 약 7% 상승하는 등 매우 건조한 환경이 이어져, 암석지에 생육하던 피해수목에 수분 스트레스가 발생한 것으로 보이나, 피해수목의 표본이 적어 단정할 수 있는 단계는 아니다.

북부지방산림청에서는 추가로 발생할 수 있는 피해를 최소화하기 위하여 지속적인 모니터링을 할 예정이며, 다양한 가능성을 열어두고 대응 방안을 마련할 계획이다.

임하수 북부지방산림청장은 “이번 현장토론회를 통하여 관련 전문가들의 다양한 의견을 들을 수 있어 유익한 자리였다.”며 “피해수목의 수세회복과 피해확산 방지를 위하여 수목관리 등 기관 간 역할을 분담해 지속적으로 노력하겠다.”고 밝혔다.
