[서종협 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 9월 18일(일) 삼척시 엑스포광장에서 열린 제26회 삼척 황영조 국제 마라톤대회 단축 5km에 참가한 삼척시스포츠클럽 소속 육상부 회원들이 남자부 4위와 여성부 1위, 2위, 4위, 5위를 차지하는 쾌거를 이뤘다고 밝혔다.

삼척시스포츠클럽은 올해 5월 2일에 신설된 클럽으로 육상, 탁구, 카누 등 3개 종목을 중심으로 삼척시의 스포츠 기반시설과 천혜의 자연조건을 활용하여 다양한 계층의 지역주민이 원하는 종목을 저렴한 비용으로 이용할 수 있는 선진국형 스포츠클럽 운영으로 학교체육·엘리트체육과 연계함으로써 스포츠 경쟁력 강화 등 지역 체육 진흥과 발전을 동시에 이루고자 설립된 클럽이다.

특히, 이번 제26회 삼척 황영조 국제 마라톤대회에서 단축 5km에 육상회원 15명(진주초등학교 6명, 청아중학교 9명)이 참가하여 남자부에서는 이지우 학생(청아중학교 1학년)이 4위로 입상하였으며, 여자부에서는 김윤정 학생(진주초등학교 6학년)이 1위를, 김하나 학생(진주초등학교 6학년)이 2위를, 장세연 학생(청아중학교 1학년)이 4위를, 김민경 학생(청아중학교 1학년)이 5위에 입상하는 등 삼척 육상의 미래를 밝게 전망할 수 있는 계기를 마련했다.
