[서종협 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 태백시(시장 이상호)는 7일 추석 연휴를 맞아 지역경제 활성화와 명절 분위기 조성을 위해 전통시장 장보기 행사를 진행했다고 밝혔다.

이번 행사는 가파른 물가 상승과 코로나 재확산에 따른 소비심리 위축으로 어려움을 겪는 전통시장 상인들을 격려하고, 소비를 진작시키고 활성화 하자는 취지에서 진행했다.

이상호 태백시장을 비롯한 공무원들은 이날 황지자유시장과 장성중앙시장을 찾아 추석 제수용품 등을 구입하며 상인들의 애로사항을 청취하는 등 소통의 시간을 가졌다. 

이상호 태백시장은 “민족 대명절을 앞두고 전통시장 상인들에게 조금이나마 도움을 드리고자 장보기 행사를 마련했다”며 “경제적 어려움을 겪는 많은 소상공인과 시민들이 행복한 추석명절을 보낼 수 있도록 민생경제 안정과 지역경제 활성화에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

한편, 태백시 전 직원들은 지난 8월 29일부터 9월 7일까지 부서별로 일정을 나눠 장보기 행사에 적극 참여해 어려운 지역 상인들에게 힘을 보탰다.
