[김준호 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 태백시는 추석 명절을 앞두고 오는 29일부터 9월 16일까지 관내 대형마트 대상으로 제품의 재포장, 과대포장 집중 점검을 실시한다고 밝혔다.

이번 점검은 제품의 재포장 및 과대포장으로 인한 소비자의 비용부담을 줄이고, 불필요한 자원 낭비 방지와 쓰레기 발생량을 줄이기 위해 실시된다.

시는 관내 대형마트 6개소를 대상으로 제과류, 주류, 화장품류, 잡화류 등의 선물세트(종합제품) 등의 품목을 점검할 예정이다.

주요 점검 사항은 ▲포장횟수, 포장공간비율 기준 준수 여부 ▲ 합성수지 재질의 재포장 행위 ▲일시적 또는 특정 유통채널을 위한 N+1, 증정·사은품 형태의 기획포장 여부 ▲낱개 판매 제품 3개 이하 포장 여부 등이다.

포장 기준을 위반한 것으로 예상되는 제품에 대해 포장검사 명령을 실시해 한국환경공단이나 한국건설생활환경시험연구원 등의 전문 검사기관에서 검사받도록 할 예정이다.

검사 결과에 따라 위반한 제조·수입자에게 최대 300만 원의 과태료 부과 등 행정처분을 할 방침이며,  시 관계자는 "환경오염과 자원이 낭비되지 않도록 제조업체의 자발적 노력을 부탁드린다"고 말했다.
