[안종욱 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 19일 가평군은 지방소멸 위기를 극복하고 활력 넘치는 도시를 만들기 위해 2022년 60억원, 2023년 80억 등 2년간 총 140억원의 지방소멸 대응 기금을 확보했다고 밝혔다.

지방소멸대응기금은 지난해 행정안전부가 인구감소지역으로 지정된 전국 89개 지자체를 비롯해 인구감소지수가 높은 관심지역 18개 지자체를 대상으로 지역소멸을 막고 인구감소에 대응하기 위하여 올해부터 연 1조원씩 10년간 총 10조원 규모로 지원하는 재원이다.

군은 지방소멸 대응 기금 확보를 위하여 ‘젊은 활력 도시 가평’이라는 비전을 제시하며 기존 인구 유출방지를 위한 정주 여건 개선, 청년이 돌아오는 일자리 기반조성, 새로운 관계인구, 생활인구 유입을 추진전략으로 사업계획을 수립했다.

이번 평가 결과에 따라 배분된 140억 규모의 사업비에 대하여 사업의 사전절차 이행여부, 시급성, 타 예산확보 가능성 등을 추가적으로 종합 검토해 최종 투자계획을 확정할 계획이다.

서태원 군수는 “인구감소지역지원 특별법이 내년 1월 시행을 앞두고 있어 향후 지방소멸대응기금과 연계 추진됨에 따라 장기계획을 수립하여 기금사업 대응에 나설 방침”이라며 “내실 있는 기금사업 추진을 통해 인구감소와 지역소멸에 철저히 대응해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.
