[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 국민의힘 강수현 양주시장 후보가 5월 19일 오전 10시, 덕정 5단지 E플러스마트 앞에서 '국민의힘 양주시당협 출정식’을 진행했다고 밝혔다. 

출정식에는 안기영 양주시당협위원장을 중심으로 현삼식 상임선대위원장(전 양주시장), 이흥규 총괄공동선대위원장, 이영주·김민호 도의원 후보, 박경수·윤창철·이승우·정현호·임재근·김현수 시의원 후보, 비례대표 강혜숙 후보, 당원, 국민의힘 지지자 200여 명과 함께 했다.

개그맨 신동수 씨의 사회로 진행된 이날 출정식은 강수현 후보의 율동팀이 나서 흥겨운 춤과 로고송으로 분위기를 띄웠으며, 가수 김흥국 씨 특유의 응원 입담이 더해져 축제분위기로 이어졌다고 했다.

이 자리에서 양주시장 강수현 후보는 “37년의 공직생활을 마치고 고향인 양주의 발전을 위해 일하겠다는 각오로 모든 준비를 마쳤다. 이제 국민의힘은 원팀이 되었다. 행정의 경험을 살려 지방선거에서 승리하고 반드시 응원과 지지에 보답하겠다”고 설명하면서 “무책임하고 무능한 행정을 끊어내고 소통하는 시민중심의 열린행정을 펼치는 양주시를 만들겠다. 힘 있는 여당의 시장으로 양주를 우뚝세우겠다”고 강조해 박수갈채를 받았다.

안기영 양주시당협위원장은 “지난 4년 동안 양주시는 어떤 일이 있었는지 아무도 모른다. 많은 시의원들이 송치되었고, 양주로컬푸드 1, 2호점은 결국 문을 닫았다. 이런 불미스러운 일들이 더 이상 생겨서는 안 된다”면서 “능력 있는 강수현 후보와 국민의힘 후보들을 모두 당선시켜서 낙후되고 침체된 양주시에 새롭게 활력을 불어넣어 달라”고 호소했다.

강 후보는 약 1시간가량 이어진 출정식을 마치고 시·도의원 후보들과 함께 인근 상가를 돌며 상인들과 지역주민들에게 지지를 호소하면서 본격적인 유세전에 돌입했다.
