[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 4월 13일, 정선군 가리왕산 올림픽 국가정원 추진위원회에서는 군청 대회의실에서 국가정원 조성 및 정원도시 활성화를 위한 제1차 정책간담회를 개최했다고 밝혔다. 

이번 정책간담회는 지난 2월 24일 정선군 180여개 기관·단체가 총결집하여 공식 출범한 추진위원회가 지난 3월 4일 국가정원 추진방안 정책토론회를 개최하여 각계 전문가들의 의견을 반영한데 이어, 국가정원 조성과 정원도시 활성화를 위한 주민들의 주도적 참여 및 의견 수렴 방안 등을 논의하기 위해 추진위원과 지역활동가 등 60여 명이 참석한 가운데 개회사, 기조발제 및 질의응답, 현안 토론의 순으로 진행되었다고 했다. 

 전흥표 추진위원장은 개회사에서 "가리왕산 올림픽 국가정원 조성을 통해 정선군은 산림형 생태정원도시와 웰니스 관광경제도시의 신성장모델을 창출하게 될 것이며", "아울러 정원도시 10대 핵심과제 추진으로 지방소멸 대응 및 폐광대체산업 육성에 있어서도 획기적인 전환점을 만들 수 있을 것이라며", "군민의 역량 결집을 위한 쌍방향 소통과 공유를 한층 더 강화해 나가겠다"고 밝혔다.      

이날 정책간담회 기조발제를 맡은 신범순 지식문화재단 이사장은 가리왕산 올림픽 국가정원 조성과 그린바이오 정원도시 비전 달성을 위해 6차산업 생태계 육성을 통한 그린 순환도시, 정원경제 일자리 창출을 통한 그린 성장도시, 정원관광 활성화를 통한 그린 뉴딜도시라는 정원도시 3대 방향과 정원네트워크 강화, 지역경제 활성화, 주민역량 증진이라는 3대 사업목표를 제시하였으며, 이를 위한 추진과제로 정선가든100 프로젝트를 중심으로한 4대 권역별 정원생태계 조성 및 정원관광·정원산업·정원문화·정원교육·주민참여 등 5개 분야에 걸친 10대 핵심과제를 제안하였다고 전했다.        

간담회에 참석한 추진위원들과 지역활동가들은 가리왕산 올림픽 국가정원 추진, 정원도시 권역별 문화관광자원 연계, 정원연계형 도시재생사업, 정원관광경제에 기반한 지방소멸 대응 및 폐광대체산업 육성, 정원산업 일자리 창출 등에 대한 논의를 하였으며, 무엇보다도 성공적인 국가정원 조성과 정원도시 추진을 위해서는 주민들의 자발적 참여와 지역공동체의 주도적 역할이 중요하다고 강조하였다고 했다.     

임채혁 추진위원회 부위원장은 "정례적인 정책간담회 및 정책설명회 등을 지속적으로 개최하여 다양한 주민 의견 수렴과 건의 사항 등을 적극 반영하는 등 주민들이 중심이 되어 주도하는 실천 방안들을 구체화해 나갈 것이라며", "그 일환으로 오는 4월 20일 정선군 9개 읍·면 주민 300여명이 참석하는 국가정원·정원도시 정책설명회를 개최할 예정"이라고 말했다.
