[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 3월 17일 캠코(한국자산관리공사)는 ‘해피홈방정환 지역아동센터’(경기도 평택시 소재)에서 작은 도서관인 ｢캠코브러리* 30호점｣ 개관식을 가졌다고 밝혔다. 

* 캠코브러리는 ‘캠코(KAMCO)’와 ‘도서관(Library)’의 합성어로, 캠코가 어린이ㆍ청소년 학습환경 개선과 독서활동 지원을 위해 지역아동센터 내 노후 공간을 리모델링해 작은 도서관을 마련해주는 캠코의 대표적 교육 사회공헌활동임

캠코브러리 30호점은 지난 2017년 수원시에 개관한 14호점에 이어 경기지역에 설치되는 두 번째 도서관이며, 개관식에는 권남주 캠코 사장과 정장선 평택시장, 윤신일 대한적십자사 경기도지사 회장 등이 참석해 개관을 축하했다고 전했다. 

캠코브러리는 캠코와 대한적십자사가 독서환경 개선이 필요한 지역아동센터를 공개 모집 후 시설낙후 정도, 이용 아동 수 등을 고려하여 선정한다고 했다. 

캠코는 금번 30호점 개관을 위해 아동들이 쾌적한 환경에서 독서활동을 할 수 있도록 공간 리모델링과 책상ㆍ책장, 인터넷 TV 등 비품을 교체ㆍ설치하고 청소년 권장 도서 약 500권을 기증했다고 전했다. 

또한, 캠코는 향후 5년간 도서 구입(약 2천권) 및 독서 지도와 문화체험 활동을 체계적으로 지원하고, 캠코브러리 이용 아동·청소년 직장체험, 캠코 직원 재능기부 등 다양한 사회공헌 활동도 함께 펼쳐나갈 계획이라고 전했다.

이날 개관식에 참석한 권남주 캠코 사장은 “아이들이 마음껏 책을 읽을 수 있는 공간을 마련해 주는 것은 희망찬 미래를 위한 값진 투자”라며, “올해 5개 캠코브러리를 추가 개관하는 등 아동ㆍ청소년들을 위한 다양한 교육기부활동을 지속적으로 추진해 나갈 것”이라고 밝혔다. 

한편, 캠코는 지난 2015년부터 지금까지 전국에 총 30개 캠코브러리를 설치했으며, 도서 5만 2천여 권과 독서지도프로그램 약 8,900시간을 지원하는 등 문화ㆍ교육 사각지대에 있는 아동ㆍ청소년들에게 학습지원과 함께 양질의 독서환경을 제공하기 위해 노력하고 있다고 전했다.
