캠코는 지난 2015년 본사가 소재한 부산 1호점 설치를 시작으로 서울, 대구, 대전, 창원, 제주 등에 이어 29번째「캠코브러리」를 진주시에 열었다고 전했다. 

이번「캠코브러리 29호점」은 캠코 경남지역본부가 대한적십자사 경남지사와 협업해 독서환경 조성이 필요한 지역아동센터를 공개 모집해 선정했다고 했다.

캠코는 이날 29호점 개관에 앞서 어린이 도서 약 500권을 기증하고, 낡은 장판과 벽지, 책상․의자 등을 친환경 용품으로 교체했으며, 빔 프로젝트․스크린․스피커 같은 비품을 설치하는 등 교육환경을 개선했다고 했다.

캠코는 앞으로 5년간 도서 구입(약 2천권) 및 독서 지도와 문화체험 활동을 체계적으로 지원하고, 캠코브러리 이용 아동·청소년 직장체험, 캠코 직원 재능기부 등 다양한 사회공헌 활동도 함께 펼쳐갈 계획이라고 전했다.

이날 개관식에 참석한 문성유 캠코 사장은 “미래의 주역이 될 어린이와 청소년들이 책을 통해 더 넓은 세상과 소통하고 더 큰 꿈을 키워가기를 바란다”며, “앞으로도 캠코는 지역사회와 더불어 미래가치를 만들어 가기위해 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
