[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 3월 14일 오후 2시, 횡성군과 횡성군체육회는 횡성실내체육관에서 대한핸드볼협회와 전국 꿈나무 핸드볼대회 및 전국 교대 핸드볼선수권대회 협약식을 개최했다고 밝혔다.

장신상 군수, 정명철 군 체육회장, 대한핸드볼협회 김진수 부회장, 정규오 사무처장, 김용진 수석위원 등이 참석하는 이번 협약식은‘전국 꿈나무 핸드볼 대회 및 전국 교대 핸드볼선수권대회’개최를 위해 열렸다고 했다.

이에 따라, 올해부터 2025년까지 매년 1회 꿈나무 핸드볼대회와 교대 핸드볼 선수권대회가 횡성에서 열리게 되며 실업리그 방송중계를 통한 횡성군 홍보 및 대회 유치를 통한 경제 활성화, 핸드볼 저변 확대 기여 등이 기대된다고 전했다.

한편, 지난 10일부터 횡성실내체육관에서는 2021~2022 SK 핸드볼 코리아 리그 경기가 열리고 있으며, 대한핸드볼협회가 주최하고 횡성군과 횡성군체육회가 후원하는 이번 대회에는 남자부 6팀, 여자부 8팀이 출전했고 ‘JTBC 골프 & 스포츠' 채널을 통해 전국에 생중계되며, 대회는 오는 15일까지 6일간 이어진다고 했다.
