[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 원주시가 도시재생 지역의 현안문제 해결을 위해 과학기술정보통신부에서 추진하는 ‘2021년 도시재생연계 리빙랩’ 공모사업에 최종 선정됐다고 밝혔다.

‘도시재생연계 리빙랩’은 도시재생과 관련된 지역사회 문제를 기획 단계부터 기술개발 및 적용까지 과학기술을 활용하는 R&D 사업으로, 원주시는 재래시장의 악취 모니터링 및 저감을 위한 스마트솔루션 개발이 최종 본과제로 선정됐다고 했다.

앞서 원주시는 지난 3월부터 사업 준비에 들어가 8월 예비과제 심사 통과에 이어 10월에는 연구기관, 전문가, 주민이 함께 참여하는 사전기획 리빙랩 운영을 통해 중앙시장, 전통시장, 자유시장 일원의 악취 모니터링 및 저감에 대한 문제해결 방안을 모색해 왔다고 했다.

이번 공모사업 선정에 따라 사업비 14억 원 전액이 국비로 투입돼 전문 연구기관으로 선정된 을지대학교 주관의 산·학·연 컨소시엄에서 오는 2023년까지 기술개발 및 실증사업을 추진하게 된다고 전했다.

원주시 관계자는 “IoT 데이터에 기반한 선제적 악취 제거 서비스 도입으로 원주지역 재래시장의 청결 이미지 제고를 통한 지역경제 활성화가 기대된다.”라고 말했다.
