[안종욱 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 14일 가평군은 가평-춘천간 광역관광특구 지정 신청서를 경기도에 제출하였고, 특구 지정 신청 범위는 가평군 가평읍 달전리, 대곡리, 읍내리, 이화리, 금대리와 춘천시 남산면 강촌리, 방곡리, 방하리, 백양리, 서천리에 이르는 방대한 규모라고 밝혔다. 

지난 2019년 9월 관광특구 공동추진 간담회를 시작으로 2020년 10월 기본계획 및 타당성조사 공동 연구용역 준공, 2021년 11월 진흥계획수립 공동연구용역 준공에 이르기까지 가평-춘천간 광역관광특구 추진을 위한 일련의 행정절차를 모두 마치고 경기도에 지정 신청서를 제출한 상태로 이제 경기도의 신청서 검토를 통한 최종 특구지정만을 남겨놓았고, 특구지정범위는 경기도 검토 과정 중 일부 변경될 수 있다고 했다.

군은 관광특구 지정으로 국내외 관광환경 변화에 능동적으로 대응하여 가평군과 춘천시의 상생발전 및 관광 브랜드 가치를 제고하고, 관광발전비전 정립 및 관광개발의 전략 등을 수립하고 내·외국인 관광객의 유치 촉진 및 지역경제 활성화에 크게 기여할 것으로 기대하고 있다고 전했다.

가평군 관계자는 “최초의 광역형 지역연계협력 프로젝트인 만큼  성공적 시범모델이 될 수 있도록 특구지정에 모든 역량을 집중하겠다”고 말했다.
