[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 양양군은 강창구 육군 8군단장에게 양양군 명예군민패를 수여했다고 밝혔다.

2019년 11월에 8군단장으로 취임한 강창구 군단장은 2020년 태풍 ‘마이삭’과 ‘하이선’ 피해 당시 동해안 시군 수해복구에 큰 도움을 주었으며, 코로나19 방역활동 지원에도 최선을 다했다고 했다.

특히, 지난달 양양 서면 장승리에서 산불이 발생했을 때에는 육군 최초로 조직된 군(軍)특수진화대가 출동하여 2시간 만에 산불을 진화하는데 한 몫을 담당하기도 했다고 전했다. 

양양군 명예군민패는 양양군명예군민증서 수여 조례에 따라 군정에 공로가 현저한 내외국인 인사와 재외교포 및 타 시군 출신 인사 등에 수여된다고 했다.
