아름답고 향기로운 꽃을 감상할 수 있도록 상반기에 1차로 중랑천·부용천 일원에 백일홍 등 6종의 다양한 초화류를 파종해 봄에 아름다운 꽃을 피웠으며, 하반기에 2차로 백일홍(신곡교 및 동막교 일원), 메리골드(장암동 롯데마트 인근), 코리우스(장암대교 인근)를 지난 11월 초에 식재해 장기간 지속되고 있는 코로나19로 지친 시민들에게 화사한 봄·시원한 여름·운치 있는 가을을 선사했다고 전했다.

이번에 식재한 튤립은 올해 꽃길조성사업의 마지막 작업으로, 만개한 튤립이 아닌 구근 식재로 추운겨울을 보내고 내년 봄 개화를 통해 2022년 꽃길 조성사업의 시작을 알릴 예정이라고 했다.

안중현 하수관리과장은 “기존의 식재지 외에 하천변에 적합한 장소를 찾아 다양한 초화류를 식재해, 시민들의 만족감이 높은 중랑천 등 관내 생태하천의 꽃길조성사업을 지속적으로 추진함으로써 코로나19 위기 극복과 지친 시민들의 마음을 치유하고 마음속에 꽃이 피길 바라며 내년에도 더욱 많은 힐링 공간을 제공하기 위해 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
