[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 11월 18일 재단법인 양양군인재육성장학회와 한국수력원자력주식회사가 양양군청 소회의실에서 ‘양양 재경학사관 건립지원을 위한 업무협약식’을 개최했다고 밝혔다.

이번 협약은 양양군인재육성장학회가 계획하고 있는 ‘양양 재경학사관’ 건립에 한국수력원자력(주) 양양양수발전소가 20억을 기탁하기로 함에 따라 성사됐다고 했다. 

한국수력원자력(주)의 장학기금 기탁조건은 양양양수발전소가 위치한 양양군 서면 및 인제군 기린면 거주 지역민 자녀들의 수혜적 조치가 우선되도록 재경학사관 운영계획을 장학회측이 수립하는 것이라고 했다.

‘발전소 주변지역 지원에 관한 법률’에 따라 적립한 장학기금의 구체적 지급방법과 시기는 재경학사관 건립에 관한 기본계획이 확정되면 관계법령에 따른 절차에 따라 별도로 정하기로 했다고 전했다.

한편, 양양군인재육성장학회 관계자는 “현재 장학회 기금 이자수익만으로는 효과적인 장학사업에 한계가 있다”며 “적정한 기금 범위내에서 수도권내 건물을 매입, 일부는 학생 기숙사로 사용하고 일부는 임대사업을 통해 기금 활용방안을 극대화하고자 한다”고 밝혔다.
