총사업비 1억 5천여만원이 투입된 이번 사업은 삼화동 행정복지센터 북측 공터에 160㎡ 규모로 신축됐으며, 올 5월 착공해 지난 11월 8일 내·외부 공사를 완료했다고 했다.

동해시는 이번 창고 신축으로 양수기, 가스마스크 등 17종 18,000여점의 재난관리자원 및 수방자재를 체계적으로 관리하고 각종 재난 대비에 필요한 물자를 파악해 비축할 계획이며, 각종 재난 발생 시 재난 유형에 맞는 각종 필요 물자를 신속하게 관내 전역으로 지원할 예정이라고 했다.

권순찬 안전과장은 “재난관리자원 통합관리 비축창고를 신축함으로써 재난 상황에 보다 신속하고 효율적으로 대처하여 시민의 안전을 확보하고 재산피해를 최소화하는데 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.

한편, 재난관리자원은 양수기·가스마스크 등 행정안전부에서 고시한 각종 재난의 예방, 대비, 대응 및 복구 등의 단계에서 필요한 장비와 자재들이라고 전했다.
