[김일중 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 11월 5일 동두천시는 시청 대회의실에서 ‘2021년 양성평등주간 기념식’을 개최했다고 밝혔다.

(사)경기도여성단체협의회 동두천시지회 주관으로 개최된 이번 행사는  2021년 양성평등 주간 슬로건 ‘더 좋은 세상, 성 평등을 향해’라는 주제로 동두천시 14개 여성단체장 및 수상자 17명 등 70여 명이 참석한 가운데 코로나19 단계적 일상회복을 위한 사회적거리 두기에 맞춰 진행됐다고 전했다.

식전행사로 2019년 양성평등상 수상자인 김정희씨가 이기철 시인의 “별까지는 가야한다”시 낭송으로 행사의 문을 열고, 올해 양성평등상 수상자로 선정된 「일과 가정의 양립 활성화 부분」 박정옥, 「양성평등 실현부문」 이영자, 「양성평등 문화확산 부문」 한완수씨와 여성 권익증진과 양성평등 문화 확산에 공헌한 14개 여성단체 14명의 유공자 표창 및 색소폰 축하 공연이 있었다고 했다.

이유화 회장은 기념사를 통해 “우리가 살고 있는 사회가 여성과 남성 어느 한쪽의 성으로 치우침 없이 모두가 행복한 동두천이 되길 바라며 그 중심에 동두천의 여성단체가 지역 공동체 의식을 갖고 함께 하겠다”라고 소감을 전했다.  

최용덕 동두천시장은 “동두천시의 14개 여성단체가 지역의 많은 봉사활동에 참여하면서 여성들의 사회적 위상이 높아지고, 활동하는 영역도 넓어졌다. 변화하는 시대에 부응하며 새로운 일에 도전하는 여성단체에 감사하다”며 “사회의 모든 분야에서 여성들이 공정하게 자신의 역량을 발휘할 수 있는 환경을 만드는데 노력하겠다”고  말했다.
