[김일중 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 9월 27일 양주소방서는 기도폐쇄 환자를 적절히 응급처치하여 소중한 인명을 구했다고 밝혔다.

당시 현장구급대원은 양주 백석구급대 소방장 오종석, 소방사 김해나, 사회복무요원 안성진 등 3명으로 현장에서 신속한 판단과 적절한 처치로 환자의 생명을 구했다고 전했다.

양주 백석구급대는 사고당일 18시 30분 경 떡을 먹다가 의식을 잃었다는 신고를 받고 즉시 출동하여 4분만에 현장에 도착했고, 구급대원은 도착 당시 환자의 의식과 호흡이 없는 것을 확인하고 즉시 심장압박을 실시했으며, 자동제세동기로 맥박이 있는 것을 확인한 구급대원은 가래 등 구강내ㆍ외부 이물을 제거하는 의료도구인 흡인기를 사용하여 기도내의 이물질을 제거했고, 이물질을 제거하여 환자의 입술색이 돌아오자 바로 환자를 인근 병원으로 이송했다고 했다.

이후 환자는 일상생활에 지장 없을 정도로 잘 회복했으며, 당시 출동한 구급대원들에게 “구급차가 빠르게 도착하고 응급처치를 잘 해줘서 이렇게 회복할 수 있었다.”라며 구급대원에게 감사인사를 전했다.
