[김준호 기자=삼척시] 삼척시의 대표적 관광명소인 삼척항 일원에 대규모 수산물 유통물류센터가 2021년 6월에 준공되었지만, 2023년 2월 현재 까지 방치되고 있어 관계자들과 시민들의 원성을 사고 있다.

삼척시는, 지난 2019년 총사업비 64억원(국비 20억원 등)을 투입해 삼척항 일원 1600여㎡ 부지에 지하1층, 지상4층, 연면적 2400여㎡ 규모로 수산물유통물류센터 건립에 들어갔다.

1층에는 활·선어 유통판매장과 건어물 등 특산품 직매장, 냉동냉장실 등이 갖춰지고 2층에는 활어회 등 수산식품 판매장, 로컬푸드 코너,식당 등이 자리한다. 또한, 3층은 수산물 가공·포장실과 물류택배실, 수산품 보관실 등이, 4층은 어업인 휴게실과 바다카페, 야외 테라스 등이 들어설 예정이었다.

시는, 건립 당시 어업인·관광객 등의 산지 수산물 판매·구매가 보다 쉬워질 전망이라고 밝혔지만, 준공이후 입점 예정이었던 활어회센터 관계자들은 현재까지 입주를 거부하고 있으며, 건립 당시 시가 의견수렴 없이 일방적으로 진행됐다고 불만의 목소리 내고 있다.
