[서종협 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 삼척시(시장 박상수)는 오는 9월 17일 14시, 대학로에 위치한 삼척 청년센터에서 ‘제1회 삼척 청년의 날 행사’를 개최한다고 밝혔다.

청년의 권리보장 및 청년 비전의 중요성을 알리기 위해 매년 9월 셋째 주 토요일로 지정된 법정기념일로, 관내 만18~39세 청년이면 누구나 참여할 수 있다. 

첫회를 맞는 ‘삼척 청년의 날 행사’에는 청년의 날 기념식과 함께 청년 참여 게시판 운영, 북 토크, 버스킹 공연, 사진 촬영 서비스, 독립영화 상영 등 청년들이 참여하고 체험할 수 있는 다양한 프로그램이 진행된다. 이밖에도 플리마켓과 커피트럭, 이벤트 행사, 포토존 등도 운영할 예정이다.

시 관계자는 “청년의 날을 기념해 청년들이 스스로 주인공이 되어 미래를 향한 꿈과 더 나은 내일을 위해 도전하고 응원하며 서로 소통하는 하루가 되기를 바란다.”며 “앞으로도 청년들이 끊임없이 도전하고 성장할 수 있도록 청년들의 이야기에 관심을 가지고 적극적으로 지원할 계획이다.”고 말했다.

한편, 지난해 12월에 개소한 삼척 청년센터는 청년들을 위한 동아리실과 다목적실, 공유카페 등을 갖추고 있으며, 청년들에게 다양한 정보를 제공하고 청년을 위한 교육 프로그램과 창업 지원 프로젝트 등을 운영하며 삼척시 청년들을 위한 소통공간으로 자리매김하고 있으며 삼척청년회의소에서 주관한 대학입시설명회도 열린바 있다.
