[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 양주시는 13일 시장실에서 양주도시공사 제2대 사장 임명식을 열고 이흥규 신임 사장에게 임명장을 교부했다고 전했다.

이흥규 신임 사장은 양주 출신으로 의정부공고와 단국대 전기공학과를 졸업하고 양주군의회 의원과 경기도의회 의원 등을 역임했으며, 이 사장의 임기는 총 3년으로 오는 2025년 9월 12일까지이다.

양주도시공사는 이재호 제1대 사장 임기 만료를 앞둔 지난 7월 신임 사장 후보자 모집 공고를 내고 총 14명의 지원자를 접수받았다.

신청 마감 후 1차 서류심사와 2차 면접심사를 통해 지원자들의 역량을 검증했으며 양주도시공사 임원추천위원회는 지난 9월 최종 2인의 후보를 가려 시에 추천했다.

양주시는 최종 후보에 오른 두 사람의 경영마인드, 직무능력, 경력 등을 종합적으로 검토 후 이흥규 전 도의원을 신임 사장으로 낙점했다.

이흥규 사장은 “시민의 편익도모와 복리증진을 위해 투명하고 창의적인 고객 중심 경영 실현으로 시민과 함께 도약하는 양주 발전에 적극 기여하겠다”고 말했다.

강수현 시장은 “올해 1월 도시공사로 전환해 새롭게 출범한 양주도시공사가 이흥규 신임 사장의 취임으로 지속가능경영과 혁신경영의 새로운 전기를 맞길 바란다”며 “공공시설물의 효율적 관리와 도시복합개발 사업의 차질없는 추진을 위해 더욱 힘써달라”고 당부했다.
