[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 한글과컴퓨터그룹(이하 한컴그룹)이 한양대학교(이하 한양대)와 함께 인문학 연구 및 산학협력을 위한 인문학진흥센터 설립에 나선다고 밝혔다.

한컴그룹과 한양대학교는 11일 청리움(경기도 가평군 소재)에서 김상철 한컴그룹 회장과 김우승 한양대학교 총장을 비롯해 주요 관계자들이 참석한 가운데 ‘한컴-한양 인문학진흥센터’ 설립을 위한 업무협약을 체결했다.

이번 협약을 통해 한컴그룹은 인문학진흥기금을 기탁해 인문학 연구와 학술활동 지원에 나서며, 이를 기반으로 한양대 서울캠퍼스에는 ‘인문학진흥연구소’, 에리카캠퍼스에는 ‘응용인문학연구소’를 설립할 예정이다.

또한, 양 기관은 융합인문학연구위원회를 구성하여, 인문학진흥기금 운용, 인문학 연구 과제 발굴 및 지원, 국제학술대회 개최, 장학금 지원 및 연구인력 양성, 한컴 인문학상 제정, 일반인 대상 인문학 아카데미 개설, 활동보고서 출간 등을 추진한다.

한컴그룹은 한양대와의 이번 협력을 계기로 인문학과 미래 기술을 결합한 혁신 기술 및 서비스 발굴을 추진하며, 인공지능 공동연구 프로젝트를 우선 추진하는 등 다양한 분야로 산학협력을 추진할 계획이다.

한양대는 기업과 학교간 연계를 통해 학생들이 직접 기업과 사회의 문제해결 방안을 도출하고, 사회수요를 반영한 문제해결 역량을 키우는 교육 혁신 모델(IC-PBL)을 적용한 산학협력으로 산업 수요에 알맞은 인재를 양성해오고 있다.

김우승 한양대학교 총장은 “인문학은 4차 산업혁명시대 인재에게 꼭 필요한 창의성, 의사소통능력, 비판적 사고력 등을 키워주는 중요한 학문이다”며 “한컴그룹과 함께 국내 최고의 인문학진흥센터로 발전시켜 앞으로 더 많은 인재를 양성 및 배출하겠다”고 말했다.

김상철 한컴그룹 회장은 “한컴그룹은 IT 기술과 인문학 융합을 통한 기술 혁신을 위해 국내 최초의 인문학 융합연구 중심의 산학협력을 추진하게 되었다”라며, “앞으로도 적극적으로 연구 및 학술 활동 지원을 통해 미래 가치에 부합하는 창의적 우수 인재 육성과 아이디어 도출로 인문학적 가치가 더해진 IT 기술이 탄생하기를 희망한다”고 말했다.
