동해시는 7월 18일부터 8월 21일까지 주·야간(10시~24시) 동안 인명구조함 정비, 방역수칙 안내, 백사장 내 무질서 행위 예찰 활동 등을 펼치고, 익수자 발생 시 신속 대처할 수 있도록 질서계도요원을 배치·운영한다.

이 외에도 시는 지난 4월 동해해양경찰서와 합동으로 비지정해변 안전시설물을 점검해 노후 안내판 및 구명장비를 교체했으며, 방문객들의 안전을 위한 안전관리요원 미배치 해변 안내 및 폭죽사용 금지 등의 현수막을 설치했다.
