송암리 29-8번지 일원에 116억 원을 들여 지하 1층, 지상 2층, 연면적 약 1,800㎡ 규모로 조성된 종합터미널은 현재 이용객을 맞을 마무리 정리가 한창이며 27일 개찰을 통해 터미널 운영을 위한 업체를 선정하고, 버스회사와 노선확보 및 운영에 따른 협의를 통해 노선변경 절차 등을 거쳐 종합여객터미널의 이전 운영이 들어간다고 밝혔다. 

이번에 송암리에 신축 이전하는 종합터미널은 1층에 대합실과 매표소, 무인발권기, 수하물 보관소, 정비소 등 터미널 기본시설을 비롯해 관광안내소, 휴게음식점을 설치해 이용객의 편의를 돕고 2층에는 사무실과 함께 카페를 운영해 휴게편의 서비스를 제공함은 물론,  고속·시외·시내버스와 택시, 일반차량 이용자의 동선을 고려한 시설 배치로 이용객 편의가 크게 개선될 것으로 보인다고 했다.

종합터미널 주변에는 동해북부선 양양역, 경찰서, 대형마트 등이 들어설 예정이어서 양양시가지의 도심확대에 따른 정주여건 개선에도 효과적일 것으로 기대되고 있다고 전했다.
