올해는 2016년부터 전면 도입된 중학교 자유학기제와 연계한 탄소중립 산림교육 프로그램(산림탄소중립의 이해, 진로 탐색 및 체험 활동 등)을 개발하여, 도시숲·학교숲 등에서 연 5,300여명의 관내(서울·인천·경기·강원영서) 중학생들을 대상으로 운영할 예정이라고 했다.

또한, 최근 코로나-19 확산 완화 등으로 일상 회복이 시작되고 있음에 따라 그 동안 각종 체험 활동에 제약이 있었던 청소년들에게 숲속 자연과의 교감 등 다양한 체험 기회를 제공하는 데도 최선을 다 하겠다고 관계자는 말했다.
