[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 양양군이 ‘양양군여성회관’을 ‘양양군 평생학습관’으로 명칭을 변경한다고 밝혔다. 

지난 1998년 5월 여성가족부 지원으로 신축 된 양양군여성회관은 여성·보육·건강가정, 다문화, 교육프로그램, 여성새로일하기센터 운영 등 다양한 업무를 수행해 왔으며, 이후 지난해 10월, 양양군 행정조직개편에 따라 ‘교육가족과’가 양양군여성회관에 신설되면서, 평생교육부서의 역점시책인 평생학습도시 선정을 위한 기반을 마련했고, 이에 여성회관 명칭은 현 시대의 양성평등에 부합하지 않는다는 사회여론과 의회 업무보고 등에서 양양군의회 의원의 여성회관 명칭변경에 대한 필요성이 수차례 제기되어 왔다고 전했다.

군은 ‘양양군여성회관운영관리조례 및 시행규칙’을 ‘양양군평생학습관운영관리조례 및 시행규칙’으로 개정 및 제반내용을 변경하고, ‘양양군평생교육진흥조례의 평생학습센터 설치․운영’을 ‘평생학습관 및 평생학습센터를 설치·운영할 수 있다’로 개정하며, 이와 함께 조례개정 공포시점에 맞춰 건축물대장 표시변경을 완료하고, 양양군 평생학습관 명칭변경에 대한 다각적인 홍보를 진행하는 등 후속조치를 신속히 추진해 나갈 계획이라고 했다.

군 관계자는 “양양군평생학습관의 명칭에 걸맞게 교육과 취․창업 지원과 안정적인 교육 프로그램을 연계한 서비스가 이루어질 수 지속적으로 노력해 나가겠다”고 말했다.
