[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 원주시는 쌀 적정 생산을 통한 쌀 수급 안정과 논 타작물 전환 확대를 통한 식량자급률 제고를 위해 ‘벼 재배면적 감축 협약’ 신청을 받는다고 밝혔다.

대상은 농업경영체에 등록된 농업인·농업법인으로, 지난해 벼를 재배했으나 올해 벼 이외 작물을 재배하거나 휴경을 계획한 농지가 있으면 신청할 수 있다고 했다.

오는 5월 31일까지 농지소재지 읍면동 행정복지센터를 방문해 신청서를 제출하면 된다고 전했다.

원주시의 올해 벼 재배면적 감축 목표는 135ha이며, 벼 재배면적 감축을 이행한 농가에는 감축 실적에 따라 ha당 공공비축미 109포대를 추가 배정하고 법인 및 RPC(마곡종합처리장) 등에는 농식품부 사업 가점이 주어진다고 했다.

원주시 관계자는 “적정 쌀 생산 및 수급 안정화를 위해 관련 기관과 농업인단체, 농업인 등의 적극적인 참여를 바란다.”라고 말했다.
