[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 3월 12일 14시 12분경 북부지방산림청은 강원도 홍천군 서석면 생곡리 동홍천휴게소 인근에서 발생한 산불에 대해 12일 오후 9시경 주불진화를 완료하고, 잔불진화 및 뒷불감시에 돌입했다고 밝혔다.

이번 산불을 진화하기 위해 산불진화 헬기 9대가 투입되었고, 지상에는 산불지휘차 4대, 산불진화차 8대와 공무원 및 진화대 등 300여명을 진화현장에 투입하여 산불진화에 총력을 다했다고 했다.

이번 산불로 인한 인명피해는 없었으나, 약 6ha의 산림이 소실된 것으로 추정되며, 정확한 피해면적 산출 및 산불 가해자에 대해서는 빠른 시일 내에 조사하여 법적 조치할 예정이라고 전했다.

북부지방산림청 최수천 청장은 “건조한 날씨가 지속되면서 산불위험이 높은 상황”이라며, “신속한 초동진화를 위한 비상근무태세에 만전을 기하겠다”고 밝혔다.
