대미 자연재해위험개선지구 정비사업은 방림면 계촌2리 대미지역의 가뭄해소를 위하여 다목적방재시설(저수지)을 설치하여 농업용수를 원활히 공급하고자 시행하는 사업으로 지난 2020년부터 기본 및 실시설계 중인 사업이라고 했다.

당초 군은 자연재해위험개선지구 지정 당시 총사업비 224억으로 사업계획을 수립하였으나 기본 및 실시설계추진에 따른 행정안전부 사전설계검토 심의결과 총 47억이 증액된 271억으로 확정되었으며, 2022년 상반기까지 건설기술심의 및 원가심사 등 건설공사 발주를 위한 행정절차를 마무리하고 공사발주를 완료하여 2024년까지 사업을 추진한다는 계획이라고 전했다.  

이정균 경제건설국장은 “해마다 농업용수 부족에 따른 가뭄피해가 반복되고 있는 지역농민들의 어려움을 덜어낼 수 있도록 대미 자연재해위험개선지구 정비사업의 추진에 박차를 가하겠다.”라고 밝혔다.
