[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 강원경찰청에 21년 11월 3일부터 22년 2월 28일까지 4개월간「연말연시 음주운전 집중단속」을 추진하여 총 1,260건을 적발했다고 밝혔다.

경찰은 지난해 11월 ‘단계적 일상회복’ 및 연말연시를 맞아 음주운전이 증가될 것을 우려하여, ‘연말연시 음주운전 집중단속’을 경찰관 기동대까지 동원, 20~30분 간격으로 단속장소를 이동하는 ‘스팟(Spot) 이동식 단속’과 음주 의심차량에 대한 ‘족집게식 선별 단속’을 벌였다고 했다.

그 결과, 기간 중 음주단속 건수는 13.6% 증가한 반면, 도내 음주운전 교통사고는 지난해 비해 20.9% 감소했다고 전했다.

한편, 이번 집중단속 기간 중 적발 건수를 시간대별로 살펴보면 20~22시 사이에 전체 중 35.6%(21건)로 가장 많았고, 요일별로는 토·일요일 38%(206건)로 가장 많았다고 했다.

시민들께서도 ‘음주운전 안하기’ 동참은 물론, 음주운전이 의심되는 차량에 대하여는 ‘112’로 적극 신고하는 등 나와 내 이웃의 안전을 보호하는 ‘거리의 수호자’ 역할을 다해줄 것을 당부드린다고 밝혔다.
