[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 오는 7일부터 강릉시는 실외에서 사육되는 반려견 총 100마리를 대상으로 내장형 동물등록 시술 및 중성화수술 지원사업을 실시한다고 밝혔다.

농촌지역에서 실외 사육되고 있으며 5개월령 이상인 등록대상 동물(개)이라면 이번 사업을 지원받을 수 있고, 1마리당 최대 40만 원(암컷 기준, 중성화 및 동물등록비용 일체 포함)에 이르는 수술비용 중에서 90%의 금액을 최대 2마리까지 지원한다고 했다.

강릉시는 이번 지원사업을 통해 실외사육견의 건강상태를 증진하고 안전을 확보하며 유실‧유기동물의 발생을 방지할 수 있을 것으로 기대하고 있다고 전했다.

신청을 희망하는 견주는 오는 7일부터 거주지 관할 읍‧면‧동 주민센터에 방문하거나 마을대표(이‧통‧반장)를 통해 신청하면 되고, 접수 완료 후 배정된 동물병원과 희망 수술일자를 협의하면 수술 당일 운송 위탁기관에서 견주의 자택을 방문하여 대상견을 병원으로 이송할 예정이라고 했다. 

강릉시 관계자는“이번 지원사업을 통해 견주의 책임의식이 강화되고 동물등록제가 더욱 활성화되어 강릉시의 선진적인 동물복지문화 정착에 기여할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다.”라고 밝혔다.
