[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 2024 강원동계청소년올림픽대회 G-2Y(22.1.19)를 계기로 대회 홍보 활동에 박차를 가하고 있는 2024 강원 동계청소년올림픽조직위원회(이하 조직위)는 피겨여왕 김연아 선수를 홍보대사로 위촉하고 본격적인 대회 홍보 활동에 나선다고 밝혔다.

2월 21일 오후 4시 서울 광화문 교보생명 빌딩에서 열린 위촉식은 신창재 조직위원장의 위촉장 전달, 김연아 선수와 청소년 서포터즈와의 인터뷰, 기념 사진 촬영 등의 순서로 개최했으며 코로나19 방역지침에 따라 참석인원을 최소화하여 김연아 홍보대사, 신창재 조직위원장, 김철민 사무총장, 청소년 서포터즈 등 10여 명이 참석하여 진행했다고 했다.

위촉식에 참여한 김연아 선수는 “2018평창동계올림픽 및 패럴림픽 홍보대사에 이어서 2024 강원 동계청소년올림픽대회 홍보대사에 위촉되어 기쁘다”며 “강원 동계청소년올림픽대회를 알리고 전세계 청소년들에게 올림픽 정신과 가치를 알릴 수 있는 좋은 계기가 될 수 있게 노력하겠다.”고 소감을 밝혔다.

이어 신창재 조직위원장은 "김연아 선수를 2024 강원동계청소년올림픽대회 홍보대사로 위촉하게 되어 기쁘게 생각하며, 앞으로 2년동안 대회 붐업을 위해 최선을 다할 것" 이라고 밝혔다.

한편 피겨여왕이자 세계적인 스포츠 스타인 김연아 선수는 2018 평창동계올림픽 및 패럴림픽 홍보대사로 활약했을 뿐만 아니라, 2012 인스부르크 동계청소년올림픽대회와 2016 릴레함메르 동계청소년대회에 이어, 2024 강원 동계청소년올림픽대회까지 홍보대사에 위촉되는 등 오랜 시간 꾸준하게 동계 스포츠 발전을 위해 헌신하고 있다고 전했다.
