[김일중 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 박진식 의정부영상미디어센터장이 ‘지역 미디어센터의 운영 사례를 통해 본 영상미디어센터의 역할’을 주제로 국제학술논문을 발표했다고 밝혔다.

국제기계공학저널 6권 3호에 게재된 이번 논문은 국내 지역 미디어센터의 사례를 분석·논의한 연구로, 이를 국제학술지에 발표하여 해외로 알린 것은 이번이 최초이며, 이번 논문을 통해 박진식 센터장은 국내 영상미디어센터의 활동의 일반성과 차별성을 분석하며 성공적인 사업 사례를 연구했고, 이를 통해 영상미디어센터의 역할에 대해 논했다고 했다.  

박진식 센터장은 영상미디어센터의 주요 활동을 미디어 교육, 콘텐츠 제작 등 지역 미디어센터의 특화 사업, 장비·시설 대여, 영화 상영 사업 등 시민 문화 복지 사업, 미디어센터 및 유관 기관 간 네트워크 구축 등 세 가지로 나누어 설명 했으며, 특히 네트워크 협력을 통해 지역 미디어 활동을 확장해야 한다고 강조했다고 전했다.  

이번 논문은 지역 미디어센터의 역할과 방향성을 보여주기 위한 시도로 미래에 새롭게 설립될 지역 미디어센터에 지표 역할을 할 것으로 기대되고, 또한 이러한  가치를 인정받아 해외 저명학술지 ‘Scopus’에도 등재되는 등 이번 논문은 학계의 공신력을 얻고 있다고 했다.

박진식 센터장은 “국내 영상미디어센터 발전에 조금이나마 보탬이 되고자 이번 논문을 기획하게 되었다.”며 “의정부영상미디어센터가 시민들을 위해 제 역할을 다하며 계속해 발전해 나갈 수 있도록 최선을 다 하겠다.”고 밝혔다. 

박진식 센터장은 이미 십여 편의 국제 연구논문을 발표하고 세계 3대 인명사전인 ‘마르퀴즈 후즈후’에 등재된 바 있으며, 해외 저명학술지 ‘Indian Jornal of Science and Technology’에 연구논문이 실리는 등 학문 간의 융합과정을 통해 새로운 분야를 개척하고 있다고 학계의 인정을 받아왔다고 했다.

한편, 의정부영상미디어센터는 의정부 시민의 영상 활용 능력을 높이고 시민 간의 소통과 지역사회의 원활한 교류를 목적으로 하는 공공미디어 서비스 시설로, 신한대학교 산학협력단이 위탁받아 운영 중이라고 전했다.
