기존 가정양육수당 지원사업은 만 0세 아동의 경우 월 20만 원, 만 1세 아동의 경우 월 15만 원을 지원해왔지만, 올해 1월부터 출생하는 영아에게는 이를 통합하고 지원단가를 인상하여 만 0~1세에 가정양육을 할 경우 월 30만 원의 현금을 지원하고, 어린이집이나 종일제 아이돌봄 서비스를 이용하는 경우에는 현금 대신 바우처 형태로 지원하며, 중복은 지원되지 않는다고 했다.

해당 영아를 둔 가정은 전국 읍·면·동 주민센터에 직접 방문해 신청하거나 행복출산 원스톱서비스에 의해 출산 서비스 통합처리 신청서로 신청 가능하며, 또한 아동의 보호자가 부모인 경우 복지로 웹사이트 또는 스마트폰 앱을 통해 온라인 신청도 가능하고, 신청기간은 출생일을 포함해 60일 이내이며 신청 시 출생한 달부터 소급해 영아수당을 지원한다고 전했다.
