강릉시는 2018 동계올림픽 종료 후 녹색도시체험센터(e-zen) 부지에 임시 운영 중이었던 강릉올림픽뮤지엄을 2018 동계올림픽 쇼트트랙과 피겨 경기가 열렸던 강릉아레나 1층에 사업비 약 8억원(시비)을 들여 702㎡ 규모로 이전·확대 조성했다고 전했다.

강릉올림픽뮤지엄은 토마스 바흐 IOC위원장이 기증한 올림픽 트로피와 역대 올림픽 기념품 그리고 2018 동계올림픽 메달과 성화봉 등을 전시했고, 올림픽 성공개최의 숨은 주역인 자원봉사자들의 헌신과 노력을 기억하기 위한 공간인 자원봉사기념관을 조성했다고 했다.

또한 동계올림픽 빙상종목을 체험할 수 있는 XR체험존을 추가 조성하여 다음 달 7일까지 시범운영 할 예정이며, 시범운영 간 불편사항을 점검하고 미비한 콘텐츠는 보완하여 운영할 계획이라고 했다.

관람료는 무료이며 오전 10시부터 오후 5시까지 운영하고 정기휴관은 월요일이며 오는 1월 1일, 명절(설날, 추석)은 휴관일이라고 전했다.
