「영진항 어촌뉴딜 300사업」은 지난 9월 공모를 신청하여 강원도 사전평가와 해양수산부 평가위원회 서류ㆍ발표 및 현장평가를 거쳐 올해 최종 선정되는 쾌거를 이루었다고 전했다.

강릉시는 지난 8월 해양수산부 기본계획 심의에서 어항~배후마을간의 보행 연계성ㆍ야간경관 부재 및 사회적 약자(아동 및 여성 등) 범죄 발생 우려 등을 고려한 마을 정비사업(CPTED) 5억원을 제안하여, 해양수산부로부터 추가 사업비를 확보 및 기본계획 승인을 받았으며 내년 3월까지 해양수산부 협의를 거쳐 실시설계를 마무리하고 협의 완료 후 공사를 착공하여 2023년까지 모든 사업을 준공할 계획이라고 했다.  

추가로 강릉시는「영진항」에 2022년부터 2024년까지 총사업비 84억원을 투자하여「문화가 있는 젊은 어촌 YOUNG진」이라는 비전으로 어항시설 정비 및 영진센터(마켓), 매바위 공원 등 특화사업과 주민역량 강화 사업을 연차적으로 추진할 계획이라고 했다. 

어촌뉴딜 300사업은 어업에만 의존하던 어촌과 어항이 해양관광과 레저산업을 통해 자립 기반을 마련하여 그 지역의 경제를 활성화 시키고 지역주민들이 관광수입으로 풍로로운 삶을 누릴 수 있게 하는 사업으로, 공모사업 선정은 지역 주민들의 염원과 권성동 국회의원의 중앙부처 긴밀한 협의와 적극적인 지원 등 모두가 함께 노력한 결과물이라고 했다. 

또한 2019년도 선정된「정동-심곡항 어촌뉴딜 300사업」은 해안단구길 외 20개소에 총사업비 145억(국비 101억, 도비 13억, 시비 31억)을 투자되며 지난 9월 시공사를 선정하여 본격적으로 사업을 추진하고 있다고 전했다.

올해 1차분 사업은 해안단구길 외 4개소 시설공사에 대하여 88억을 투자하여 해안단구길 조성, 해안보행로 조성, 물량장 개축, 다목적 광장 조성, 방파제 미관개선 등 내년 4월 목표로 사업 추진에 속도를 내어 마무리할 계획이며, 2차분 공사는 내년 12월까지 토목 및 건축공사 15개소 등 잔여사업에 대해 마무리할 계획이라고 했다.

2020년도 선정된「소돌-오리진항 어촌뉴딜 300사업」은 총사업비 83억원을 투입하여 가족형 해양레저체험 바다리조트 소돌~오리진항이라는 비전으로 어항시설 정비 및 해양레저체험장 조성 등 특화사업과 주민역량 강화 사업을 추진한다고 했다. 

임원익 해양수산과장은“어촌뉴딜 300사업을 통해 강릉시 북부 및 남부 어항과 어촌마을에 활력을 불어넣어 해돋이 명소와 레저ㆍ휴식공간으로 강릉이 다시 한번 전국적인 관광지로 재도약 할 계기가 될 것이다”라고 밝혔다.
