특히 일시납부가 어려운 체납자들을 대상으로 분할납부를 적극적으로 실시하고 있어, 담당부서에 문의하여 분납계획을 이행함으로써 번호판영치나 급여 및 예금압류로 인한 불편을 사전에 차단할 수 있도록 체납자들이 이를 적극적으로 활용할 것을 요청했다고 했다.

강릉시 관계자는“자동차 관련 과태료의 경우 명의이전 또는 폐차 시 납부하면 된다는 인식과 차량초과말소, 멸실인정 등의 이유로 기존 과태료가 없어질 것이라는 잘못된 인식으로 납부를 미루는 분들이 많다.”며 “가산금과 중가산금을 포함하여 최대 본세의 75%의 가산금이 더해지는 등 과태료 체납으로 인하여 받는 불이익이 큰 만큼 체납된 교통과태료를 지체없이 납부할 것”을 당부했다.
