[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 강릉시는 단계적 일상회복을 위해 코로나19 장기화로 힘든 시민의 삶에 위로와 힘이 되어 주고 침체된 지역경제 활성화와 골목상권 소비 촉진을 위해 오는 12월 1일부터 한달간 강릉페이 한도액을 60만 원으로 상향한다고 밝혔다.

기존에는 15만 원을 충전할 경우 1만5천 원까지 캐시백이 지급됐으나 이번 한도액 확대로 60만 원 충전시 최대 6만 원의 캐시백을 지급받을 수 있고 예산소진시 조기 마감된다고 했다.

강릉페이는 지난해 출시하여 총 3,100억원을 발행하며 위축된 경기 회복에 큰 버팀목이 되고 있다고 전했다. 

한편 11월 기준 강릉페이 일반발행 금액은 1083억 원을 돌파하였고 카드등록은 155,000건, 가입자수 146,000건으로 지역경제 살리기에 마중물 역할을 톡톡히 한 것으로 분석됐다고 했다.

강릉시 관계자는“캐시백 한도액 상향 조정이 코로나19로 그늘진 지역경제에 조금이나마 도움이 되길 바란다”고 말했다.
