이번 사업은 추석을 맞이하여 동두천 우체국에서 지원한 사업의 일환으로 어르신들의 건강과 행복을 응원하고, 풍성한 한가위를 보내시도록 사회적 거리두기 및 방역지침을 준수하에 개별 전달을 진행하였다고 했다.

이날 어르신들을 위해 풍성한 선물을 지원한 박종화 국장은 “우체국 직원들과 함께 어르신들 얼굴을 뵙고 선물을 전달하고 싶었는데 사회적 거리두기 4단계로 인해 동행하지는 못했지만 마음만은 함께 했다”며 아쉬움을 전했다.

강창운 관장은 “동두천시청을 포함하여 지역사회의 공공기관 및 사회단체에서 자원연계를 통해 어르신들이 건강하고 행복한 삶을 이어나갈 수 있도록 더욱 노력하여 앞으로도 기관들이 함께 모여 고민하는 자리, 나누는 자리를 만들겠다”며 “많은 분들의 관심과 협조를 요청드린다”고 밝혔다.
