[김현우 기자 = 경기북부] 오는 30일 오후 3시30분 포천시와 문화재청은 포천시 관인면 초과리 오리나무 앞에 천연기념물 지정 축하자리를 마련한다고 밝혔다. 

포천 초과리 오리나무의 수령은 230년 이상으로 추정되며, 나무의 수형과 생육 상태, 지역주민과 함께했던 민속사적 가치를 인정받아 지난 2019년 9월 오리나무 최초로 천연기념물로 지정되었다고 했다.

문화재청은 지역주민에게 문화재에 대한 자긍심을 갖게 하고 오리나무의 가치를 널리 알리고자 이번 행사를 추진했으며, 지정식에는 문화재청 강경환 차장이 참석해 자리를 빛낼 예정이라고 했다.

행사는 포천시립민속예술단의 ‘울창’이라는 축하공연으로 시작되며, 초과리 오리나무의 보호와 천연기념물 지정을 적극적으로 추진한 박광복 관인면 초과2리 이장이 사회를 맡아 진행할 예정이라고 했다. 

문화재청 관계자는 “향후 오리나무 주변 정비사업을 추진하여 지역주민과 상생하고 지역민이 앞장서서 보존하는 문화재가 될 것으로 기대한다.”고 밝혔다.

한편, 천연기념물 지정식은 코로나19 예방을 위해 참석인원을 최소화하며, 많은 시민이 볼 수 있도록 포천시청 공식 유튜브 채널을 통해 생중계할 예정이라고 전했다.
