[김현우 기자 = 경기북부] 지난 4월 22일 의정부시 호원1동에서는 통장 등 주민 60여 명이 참여한 가운데 평화로변 일원에 아름다운 꽃길을 조성했다고 밝혔다. 

호원1동은 유동인구가 많은 평화로변 일대를 꽃길로 조성하여 시민 모두가 도심속 꽃향기를 맡으며 잠시나마 여유를 찾을 수 있도록 꽃심기 행사를 마련했다고 전했다. 

이날 행사는 마스크 착용, 거리두기 등 코로나19 방역수칙을 준수하여 진행했으며, 메리골드, 제라늄, 펄멈 등 형형색색의 초화류 1천500본을 가로화분 100여 개에 식재했다고 했다.

또한 2019년 ‘The G&B City 프로젝트’ 사업의 일환으로 평화로변 아파트 방음벽에 조성된 대나무 화단에 울타리를 설치하는 작업도 함께 진행했으며, 해당 아파트 주민이 함께 참여하여 ‘The G&B City 프로젝트'의 기본 추진 방향인 시민과 함께하는 꽃길 조성으로 그 의미를 더했다고 전했다. 

최창순 호원1동장은 “이른 아침부터 식재 행사에 참여해주신 통장님과 주민 여러분께 감사드리며, 코로나19 장기화로 지친 주민들이 형형색색의 화사한 봄꽃을 보며 잠시나마 활력을 갖고 마음의 위로가 되기를 바란다.”고 말했다.
