한줌의 벼가 육묘상자에 웅크리고 앉아 새로운 생명으로 나오기까지 자신을 낮추며 양분을 흡수하는 인고의 시간이 지나면 초록의 새싹이 움튼다. 초록의 새싹은 이앙기의 힘을 빌려 모내기를 하고, 자연의 양분과 농부의 정성스러운 손길을 거쳐 풍요의 황금 들녘을 완성하는 농부의 1년이 시간이 흘러간다.

가평군 농업정책의 시계도 24시간 열심히 돌아갔다. 2022년도 농림축산식품부 농업인의날 행사에서 농업인 정부포상수상(산업포장1, 대통령1)과 경기도 농어민대상 수상(2명), 경기도 시군 농정업무평가 최우수 기관상을 수상했다. 챔피언이 되는 것보다. 챔피언의 자리를 지켜내는 것이 더 어려운 일이다. 하지만, 가평군은 농업정책 3개 분야 모두 6년 연속 챔피언이라는 타이틀을 검어 쥐는 영광을 누렸다. 

각 분야 6년 연속 챔피언은 개인 혼자만의 힘으로는 이룰 수 없다. 개인과 개인의 힘을 모아 협력할 때 가능한 일이다. 농업관련 공무원과 농업인 그리고 농업의 지도자들이 함께 힘을 모아 최고의 시너지를 발휘하였기에 오늘의 챔피언을 유지할 수 있었다. 

올해 처음으로 도입한 농민기본소득은 농업인 1인당 년 60만 원을 지역화폐로 지원하는 사업으로 53억 원을 확보해 지원했고 귀농·귀촌인 인구유입을 위한, 가평에서 살아보기 사업, 먹거리사업, 농·특산물 상품개발사업 등을 새롭게 추진했다. 특히 13만 여명이 다녀간 자라섬 꽃 정원 개방기간동안 농·특산물 판매를 위한 직거래 자라장터를 개설해 7억 4천여만 원의 농·특산물을 판매하는 성과도 올렸다.

농업의 패러다임 변화에 따른 다양한 사업을 추진하고 가평군정을 책임지는 서태원 군수와 최정용 의장을 비롯한 의원 모두가 농업인들을 위하여 아낌없는 지원을 했기에 챔피언 자리를 지킬 수 있었다. 나 또한 농부의 아들로 태어났으며 농업정책을 추진하는 담당과장으로서 농업인의 마음을 담아 진심으로 감사의 말씀을 드린다.
