[김택곤 기자=영월군]  동강과 서강이 흐르고 있는 영월군은 남한강 상류 하천의 수질오염 및 악취방지를 위하여 영월하수처리장을 비롯한 25개소의 공공하수처리장을 운영하고 있다.

영월군은 남한강 상류 평창강·주천강의 수질 개선을 위하여 공공 하수도 지역 확장에 노력한 결과, 국비 포함 총사업비 65억원을 투자하여 2019년부터 4년간 무릉도원면 무릉3리(토실) 일원에 하수도 공사를 진행하여 하수처리시설 1일 100톤, 오수관로 8.8km, 136가구의 오수처리가 가능한 사업을 순조롭게 진행하였다.

8월부터 현재까지 시운전을 통해 이상 유무를 점검하고 있으며 수질 전문 분석기관의 분석 결과를 토대로 금년 12월 내에 사용개시 할 예정이다.

김해원 하수도팀장은 “무릉마을은 팬션과 캠핑장 밀집지역으로 여름철 예기치 못한 생활하수와 오수를 신설된 유량조정조로 유입하여 안전하게 처리할 것이며, 수질을 개선하여 지역주민이 더욱 살기 좋은 영월을 만들고 나아가 청정 영월을 찾는 관광객에도 깨끗한 이미지를 제고하기 위하여 노력할 것이다.” 라고 하였다.
