[김현우 기자 = 강릉시] 강릉시는 '2022 옥천동 도시재생뉴딜사업 성과 보고회'가 오는 28일부터 11월 3일까지 옥천동 구슬샘문화창고에서 개최한다. 

이번 보고회는 강릉시가 주최하고 옥천동 도시재생현장지원센터가 주관하며,  2018년부터 2022년까지 5년간 진행해 온 옥천동 도시재생뉴딜사업에 대한 성과를 총망라한 자리로 다양한 도시재생사업 성과물 전시와 부대 행사가 이루어진다.

오는 28일 18시에는 옥천동의 지속적인 마을관리를 위해 만들어진 비영리법인 '옥거리마을관리사회적협동조합 총회'가 개최되며, 31일 오후 2시에는 옥천동 문화체육 소모임 활동 사업에 대한 성과를 보여주는 동시에 주민들에게 다양한 즐길 거리를 제공하는 '옥천동 문화예술 소모임 공연 및 레크리에이션' 행사가 진행된다.

오는 11월 2일 오후 4시에는 옥천동 도시재생사업의 계획수립부터 시행까지 발자취를 함께 해 온 '옥천동 도시재생 주민협의체 정기총회'가 개최된다. 

옥천동의 상징인 은행나무 조형물과 주민제안사업을 통해 제작된 안전의자로 구성된 가을 느낌을 물씬 풍길 수 있는 포토존도 선보인다. 

강릉시는 2017년 12월에 도시생뉴딜사업 중심시가지형(5개년 계획 사업)으로 선정되고 2018년 5월 도시재생 선도지역 지정을 시작으로 2019년부터 옥천동 도시재생현장지원센터를 개소하며 본격적인 사업을 추진해왔다.

이후 원도심 지역 상권 활성화를 위한 중앙시장 환경개선과 상인역량강화사업, 빈 점포 연계사업, 상업 특화가로 및 상업 문화가로를 추진했다.

또한, 중심기능과 정체성 확보를 위한 창업·문화·복지 등 복합기능 앵커시설인 도시재생 어울림 플랫폼 조성을 비롯해, 문화·예술의 거점시설로 재탄생된 옥천동 구슬샘 문화창고, 도심 공영주차장 확보 등을 추진하며 5년간의 도시재생뉴딜사업을 마무리한다.

강릉시 관계자는 “그동안의 옥천동 도시재생뉴딜사업들을 돌아보며 주민들과 함께 만들어낸 사업 성과를 나누고 공감하며 변화된 옥천동의 모습을 확인할 수 있는 뜻깊은 자리가 될 것으로 기대한다”고 말했다.
