강원도에서 추진하는 기업형 새농촌 마을사업은 주민역량강화 및 농촌공동체 기반구축을 통해 농촌 일자리 창출, 농가소득 증대를 도모해 지속가능한 살기좋은 농촌을 만들기 위해 추진하고 있다.

임계면 송계1리 송원마을은 2022년 기업형 새농촌 우수 도약마을로 선정됨에 따라 선정연도에 3억 원의 인센티브를 지원받아 오는 2023년부터 '청정 임계 산자락, 소나무 품에 쉬는 안락한 송원마을'을 만들기 위한 다양한 사업을 추진한다. 

주요사업 내용으로 체험장 및 가공유통센터 등을 운영하기 위한 (폐)소란분교를 마을공동부지로 매입을 추진하며 주민역량강화를 비롯한 마을 브랜드 및 사업컨설팅, 마을발전기금 조성, 지역 역량강화 사업 등을 추진할 계획이다. 

임계면 송계1리 마을은 지난 2017년부터 마을 전문인력 양성 프로그램 운영, 송원체험장 조성, 쇼핑몰 홈페이지 구축, 체험 시설 구축, 숙박시설(캠핑장)등 지역 주민 모두가 행복한 소득·체험 자원을 구축·운영하고 있다.
